Summer Happenings in London, June-August 2017

We would like to sing Hot Town Summer In the City. However, this is not the case at all. On the other hand, the town is full of catchy events for both locals and visitors, as always.

LONDON ! HOLD ME IN YOUR LOVING ARMS.

Underbelly Festival
Let’s begin with the most fun activity of the summer, where everyone can find something for himself. The best in live circus, comedy, cabaret and family entertainment comes to the heart of the South Bank — and what better place to soak up the festival atmosphere than on the banks of the Thames. Have a tipple in one of London’s largest outdoor bars before you kick back and watch some of the amazing performances. South Bank, until 30 September

Free kids tickets for tons of West End shows
Plans for the school holidays? If you are visiting London with your kids we have a great news for you.
Make sure a theater trip is in the diary, as Kids Week 2017 comes to London this August. The annual event is always popular, and some events sell-out quickly, so make sure you’re ready when booking opens on 13 June.
Kids Week sees kids (16 or under) go free with any full paying adult to some of the city’s best shows. There’s something for all ages — under 5s may fancy We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, while Miranda Hart’s new starring role in Annie will appeal to older kids. Classics such as The Lion King and Les Miserables are included in the deal, as are plenty of activities and workshops related to the shows (puppets and sing-alongs anyone?).
Up to two more children can come along to the shows for half price — why not use the kids as an excuse and go and see something you’ve always wanted to?
Kids Week runs from 1-31 August —booking opens on 13 June.

Bush Hall Does Glastonbury
Some of us can’t make it in Glastonbury, and listen to some good tunes.
So instead of drowning your sorrows with a bottle of wine in front of the BBC this weekend, pop down to Bush Hall, where they’re replicating the festival experience in a local, mud-free environment on the cheap. They’ll be playing the best acts of the day on live screens, but there’ll also be proper Djs and live music to really get the Glasto buzz going. For More info about the venue Bush Hall

Luna Cinema
Luna Cinema is back and kicking off another series of outdoor cinema viewings in unusual locations, starting with Dreamgirls. Victoria Embankment Gardens, 7pm-11.30pm For gorgeous backdrops for classical movies full program calendar and venues Luna Cinema

Royal Ballet School Year End Performance

Are you Disco Freak?
Hit the dance floor in your bright colours and flared jeans for a summer disco party. Greg Wilson will be at the tape deck with disco edits for you to boogie to. The Nest. 30 June Friday 10pm-4am

New Orleans Style Jazz
Spend a night listening to New Orleans style jazz in the Royal Albert Hall in a one-off concert headed by none other than American director Woody Allen. Allen once famously missed accepting a ‘Best Picture’ Academy Award as he was performing a concert on the same evening. Royal Albert Hall, Sunday 2 July 4.15pm

Enjoy your summer and do not forget to drink PIMM’s.
