As you drive north out of Edinburgh, you’ll travel across the Firth of Forth, crossed by three bridges spanning three centuries, a feat of engineering earning its place as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Heading into Stirlingshire, you’ll hear of the turbulent times of William Wallace – as dramatised by the film Braveheart.
We’ll stop in Stirling, where you will have the chance to visit the Wallace Monument*, built in commemoration of the Scottish hero, or to explore the stunning Stirling Castle. Soak up the beautiful and ancient city, whilst learning about the tumultuous period of history to which the city was witness.
You will now have the chance to savour handcrafted Highland Whisky at Deanston Distillery* on the banks of the River Teith. You’ll have ample time to stroll through the village of Deanston and purchase lunch, or to explore Doune Castle, made famous by Monty Python and the Game of Thrones and Outlander series.
On the bonnie bonnie banks… Travel along Loch Lomond and through the Trossachs National Park, home of the Highland rogue Rob Roy. Capture beautiful photos from viewpoints along the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond before stopping at Luss, where you can walk along the shores of Britain’s largest expanse of fresh water.
